We are a non-profit organization that provides all children with the opportunity to play baseball in an organized non-competitive league at no cost to their families.

There is something about playing the game of baseball that lights up the eyes of a child, but for children with disabilities and challenges, that opportunity often is missing. The Miracle League of Massachusetts gives these children the opportunity to get outside, create friendships with teammates and community volunteers, and enjoy playing the game of baseball in its purest form.

During each Miracle League game, every child is given the opportunity to hit the ball and score every inning. Team members are assigned buddies who assist them in hitting the ball, fielding and running the bases. More importantly, these buddies provide the players with encouragement and friendship. The majority of our volunteers are teenagers from the community. It is touching to see these kids who have never met before, cheer for one another, high five each other, or learn how to fist bump. The Miracle League enables both the players and the typical teenagers to overcome boundaries and learn that the other kids are not that different after all.

Sometimes, we worry that parents are hesitant to sign up their child. Perhaps they hear "special needs baseball" and think it's just for children in wheelchairs or not for children who can't hold a bat or understand the rules of baseball, but our program is for ALL children who have physical or mental challenges that prevent them from playing in a mainstream league. If you have concerns, we strongly encourage you to watch the videos below and bring your child out to watch a game.

Yet in all their joy and triumph, there is still one thing missing-the ability to play on a safe field free of obstacles. Currently the Miracle League of Massachusetts plays at an elementary school ballfield in Boxborough. To the able-bodied, the field appears in great shape, but to an individual utilizing a wheelchair or a walker or to a child with vision or balance issues, the smallest rut or bumpy terrain can be difficult and dangerous.

These kids need a safe place to play, a specially equipped Miracle Field. This custom-designed venue incorporates a cushioned synthetic turf. This completely smooth surface accommodates wheelchairs and other walking assistance devices, while helping prevent injuries. In other words, a level field where physically and mentally challenged children can safely hit, run, pitch and catch, just like the best of them.

Please help us make our dream of building a Miracle Field in Massachusetts a reality. Every child deserves the chance to play baseball and share in the joys of the game.
